My name is Asma Mahdawi, and I am an Afghan chemistry educator who believes that education is one of the greatest gifts a person can receive and share. Learning has shaped my life, and teaching has given my life purpose.
I graduated from Bamyan University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, earning an academic score of 95%. Chemistry has fascinated me since I was a student. I love the way it encourages curiosity, helps us understand the world, and teaches us to think logically. That passion naturally led me to become a teacher.
For more than ten years, I have been teaching chemistry to high school students and university entrance examination candidates. During these years, I have worked with several educational institutions and international organizations, including JRS, AFrand, and Aga Khan educational programs, as well as private educational centers in Kabul and other provinces of Afghanistan. Every classroom has been a place where I have learned as much from my students as they have learned from me.
To me, teaching is far more than delivering lessons or preparing students for exams. It is about helping someone believe in themselves. It is about watching a student who once doubted their abilities begin to ask questions, solve problems, and dream about the future with confidence. Those moments have always been the most meaningful part of my work.
In 2023, I moved to Pakistan, where I witnessed many Afghan girls struggling with the painful reality of interrupted education. For me, this was more than an educational challenge, it was a human one. Every girl who is prevented from learning loses opportunities, confidence, and the chance to shape her own future. When girls are denied education, families, communities, and future generations are affected as well.
I could not ignore what I saw. Together with my brother and the support of generous volunteers, we started a free educational program for Afghan refugee girls in Quetta. Since then, I have continued teaching chemistry to students who refuse to give up on their dreams despite the obstacles they face. For the past two years, I have also been teaching at the Online Women’s University, where I have had the privilege of supporting Afghan girls through online education. Their determination inspires me every day and reminds me that the desire to learn is stronger than the barriers that stand in its way.
I believe that learning is a lifelong journey, which is why I continue improving my English and expanding my knowledge. My goal is to pursue a Master’s degree and eventually a Ph.D. in Chemistry, not only to grow as a scientist but also to become a better teacher.
If there is one belief that has guided my life, it is this: knowledge becomes truly valuable only when it is shared. As long as I have the opportunity to learn, I will continue to teach. And as long as there are students who are eager to learn, I will continue to stand beside them, because education does more than change individual lives,it gives hope, creates opportunities, and helps build a better future.
صابره خالقی، فارغالتحصیل رشته کیمیا از پوهنځی علوم طبیعی پوهنتون تعلیم و تربیه کابل، دارای تجربه در بخش آموزش و تدریس در دانشگاه آنلاین زن، مکتب آنلاین، مکتب خصوصی اندیشه مولانا و مکتب خصوصی فروغ معرفت میباشد. وی در طول فعالیتهای آموزشی خود موفق به دریافت چندین تقدیرنامه و تصدیقنامه شده است. از ویژگیهای حرفهای ایشان میتوان به مسئولیتپذیری، تعهد، علاقهمندی به آموزش و یادگیری، تسلط بر برنامههای Microsoft Office، تهیه پریزنتیشن و استفاده از اینترنت اشاره کرد. همچنین به زبانهای دری، پشتو و انگلیسی آشنایی دارد و به مطالعه، ورزش، نقاشی و عکاسی علاقهمند است.
