• Introduction

On Friday, 25/7/1404, an academic webinar titled “Women’s Fundamental Rights and Freedoms: Foundation of Justice and Equality in Modern Societies” was held, with the participation of over 1000 attendees, including the university’s leadership team, professors, students, academic and administrative staff.

The program began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Ms. Zuhra Mirzad. Following that, Ms. Malalay Salangi and Ms. Fawzia Stanekzai, warmly welcomed all attendees and highlighted the relevance and importance of the webinar’s topic.

Following That, Mr. Abdul farid Salangi, Chancellor and Founder of Woman Online University, warmly welcomed the participants. He highlighted that the engagement of distinguished scholars provides encouragement and inspiration to thousands of girls who are deprived of educational opportunities. By accessing the expertise of these academics, young women are empowered, fostering both personal growth and stronger connections between the academic community and Afghan society.

Presentation

Dr. Malek Setiz welcomed the participants and delivered a comprehensive presentation, which included the following key points:

• Human freedom depends on the regulations established by the government and codified in law.
• When a government officially recognizes human freedoms, they are transformed into the rights of its citizens.
• Freedom of expression and critique is upheld in some countries, while restricted in others.
• Once freedom is enshrined in law, political liberty naturally follows.
• Citizens’ freedoms encompass social, cultural, and economic rights; among them, social freedom—particularly access to education—is a vital factor in shaping individual identity.
• Social crises often stem from poverty and the abuse of power and privilege.
