Introduction
On Friday, 21,10,1403, an academic webinar titled “Your Search for Meaning” was warmly held with the participation of over 1,000 attendees, including the university’s general administration, leadership team, and academic and administrative staff.
The program began with the recitation of several verses from the Holy Quran by Ms. Zahra Mirzad. Following that, the successful host of the program, Ms. Fawzia Estanezai, warmly welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of the webinar’s topic.
Speeches
Afterwards, Ms. Adeleh Zamani, the Deputy for student affairs at the Woman Online University, welcomed the webinar participants and provided valuable insights on the webinar’s topic.
Then an introductory video about the guest speaker of the program was presented.
After that the guest speaker of the program Mr. Andrew Ireson (Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada) welcomed the participants and discussed the topic of the webinar, which included the following key points:
• Professor Andrew opened the webinar by discussing Viktor Frankl’s book “Man’s Search for Meaning,” in which he emphasizes the importance of finding meaning in life. He believed that individuals can find meaning in life through three paths work, love, and suffering.
• Visualizing the Future, Frankl believed that having a positive outlook on the future can help individuals overcome challenges and suffering. He references Nietzsche’s quote, which says: “He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.”
• Finding Your “Why” , To lead a meaningful life, individuals must identify their reasons and purpose. This sense of purpose helps them cope better with life’s challenges.
Global Challenges and Education in Afghanistan
He also addressed current global issues, including poverty, hunger, and climate change. He specifically highlighted the ongoing educational restrictions for women and girls in Afghanistan, noting that 1,211 days had passed since they were last allowed to attend school. He expressed admiration for their resilience in seeking education despite these oppressive circumstances.
Following his presentation , Mr. Andrew Ireson responded to participants’ questions, leading to a fruitful exchange of ideas.
Conclusion
At the end, Mr. Saduddin Mohamadi, Head of the Faculty of language and literature at the Woman Online University, summarized the program and expressed gratitude for the active participation of professors, academic and administrative staff. He emphasized the importance of continuing such programs to enhance awareness and knowledge levels.
