The webinar began with a speech by esteemed Professor Abdul Farid “Salangi,” the chancellor and Founder of the Woman Online University. He highlighted the importance of international security studies and its academic position in political science for the students of the Faculty of Law and Political Science and other interested individuals. He also requested the collaboration of Dr. Arian “Sharifi” with Woman Online University in similar academic webinars, expressing his desire for this program not to be the first and last of its kind.
Then, Ms. Adela “Zamani,” the Deputy chancellor of Student Affairs of the Woman Online University, provided insightful remarks regarding the organization of the webinar. She stated that this webinar offers a valuable opportunity for students and enthusiasts of political science and international security studies to learn and expand their knowledge. She emphasized that participating in such webinars helps students not only to gain a deeper understanding of the relevant topics but also to engage with experienced and specialized individuals in this field.
Dr. Arian “Sharifi,” an esteemed professor of International Security Studies at Princeton University in the United States and a prominent expert in the field of international security, then proceeded to discuss the origins of international security studies and its academic significance in political science as the webinar’s main speaker. In his presentation titled “The Origins of International Security Studies and Its Academic Position in Political Science,” he delved into the history and development of international security studies and its importance in the field of political science. He emphasized the impact of political, economic, and social changes in past decades on international security studies. Additionally, he explored new threats and international security challenges, changes in power dynamics between countries, advancements in technology and communications, and the need for cooperation and collaboration among nations to maintain global security.
Subsequently, Dr. Sharifi answered the questions posed by the attendees, which were presented by Mr. Mohammad Fahim “Javid,” the head of the Department of Judiciary and Sarnawali at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, of the Woman Online University. These questions pertained to the content of the presentation and various dimensions of international security studies. Dr. Sharifi provided precise and comprehensive answers, offering explanations related to the relevant topics.
In the end of the program, Ms. Sohaila “Erfani,” the Deputy chancellor of the Academic Affairs at Woman Online University, expressed gratitude to the organizers of the webinar and stated, “You, as students and the daughters of the homeland, with your progressive thinking, unwavering efforts, and advancement in research and education, are exemplary embodiments of excellence and scholarly depth. Your endeavors in the fields of international security and foreign policy not only contribute to the progress of the Woman Online University but also enable you to contribute to society and the world through your own growth and development.”
