Commemorating the 107th Anniversary of Afghanistan’s Independence
Woman Online University proudly hosted a special academic and
cultural program commemorating the 107th Anniversary of Afghanistan’s
Independence on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 (28 Asad 1405), Google
Meet.
The program brought together university officials, faculty members, and
members of the academic community to reflect on Afghanistan’s independence,
the development of women’s education, and the role of education in the country’s
academic, social, and cultural progress.
The program was moderated by Ms. Malalai Salangy and Ms. Fatima Ghafoori
and opened with a recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Ms. Zohra Mirzad.
Professor Adeleh Zamani, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, delivered
the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of freedom, education,
and expanding educational opportunities for women and girls.
The cultural segment featured Dari and Pashto recitations by Ms. Safia
Mohammadi and Ms. Husna Fazli. The main academic session was presented
by Dr. Mohammad Zarif Alam Stanikzai, who discussed the development of
women’s education in Afghanistan following independence and its
significance for the country’s future.
The program concluded with remarks by Dr. Najma Samkani, Administrative
Director, who highlighted the importance of continuing academic,
cultural, and awareness-raising initiatives.
The event provided an opportunity to commemorate a significant
national occasion while promoting historical awareness and highlighting
the vital role of women’s education in Afghanistan’s development.
